One of the best ways to learn a new language, is to learn along with others. Afterall, the very reason you’re learning a language, is to learn how to communicate in that language, right?
In our awesome group session environment, your confidence will be boosted as you realize everyone is learning along with you. In our group sessions, you feel right at home as we welcome all questions and provide a safe space to practice speaking Jamaican without feeling shy. No mistakes are silly when you learn and grow from them, no matter how many tries it takes!
Our group sessions are for those determined students who want to grasp the grammar, pronunciation, nuances and flair of the Jamaican Patois Language.
Meet Your Teacher:
Our experienced Jamaican Language Instructor, Jaynia, has been engaged with teaching Patois over the last 10 years. Her fun and engaging approach ensures students feel comfortable to engage with the language. Jaynia uses conversational techniques to discuss topics dear to her students to bring out their best as they pursue their Jamaican language learning goals.
Class Size:
For the sessions to be meaningful, we limit each class size to 10 students. This allows students to get personalized attention, while having other students to engage with during breakout sessions.
Curriculum: This Introductory level course for beginners will provide an overview of the history of the Jamaican language, Sounds of the Jamaican Language, Basic Grammar rules and how to read and write the Jamaican Patois using the standard writing system.
By the end of the course, students will know how to introduce themselves, describe their family, talk about their likes and dislikes, and learn how to pronounce words with the Jamaican accent, as well as learn to read and write in the standardized writing system developed by Linguists.
